Join us for "The Art of Listening and Conversation" Saturday, April 5, 8:30 am-Noon, Rauenhorst Ballroom, Coeur de Catherine, St. Catherine University.
Are you feeling distracted and constantly overloaded with information and a demand for connectivity? This workshop will focus on developing our capacity to be more present and attentive in personal and professional conversations.Presented by Diane Millis, PhD, educator, spiritual director, and author of "Conversation--the Sacred Art: Practicing Presence in an Age of Distraction." It will present best practices in listening and conversations and offer an opportunity to listen deeply to self and others.
Registration required by March 31. Free with current St Kate's ID. Light breakfast provided.

It features the experiences of white women and men who have worked to gain insight into what it means to challenge notions of racism and white supremacy in the United States. The Abigail Quigley McCarthy Center for Women offers annual scholarships, up to $1,000.00, for St. Catherine undergraduate (associate and baccalaureate) students to participate in the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) Women & Policy in the Global Community Seminar in Washington, D.C.,May 19–23, 2014.

Catherine's Monologues
Catherine's Monologues is a student initiated, written and acted event. Students submit original monologues, music, poetry, etc about their personal life experiences to show the breadth of our student's background.

This annual potluck is a festive opportunity to take a close-up look at the cultures that comprise St. Catherine University. Through an array of food, music, dance and dress we explore the cultural traditions that make us a unique student body.

What is First Step? Preparing young women of color for higher education, the First Step Summer Institute is a FREE and unique college immersion experience offered at St. Catherine University (St. Paul campus).
In this one week residential program, students gain a deeper sense of commitment to pursue higher education, a strong network of diverse, college-bound friends, a sense of support and encouragement from St. Kate's staff, faculty, and students, more perspective on college living, and ultimately, increased self-esteem about their capacity to apply to and thrive in college.
Who is eligible? Students are eligible if they:
- Identify as a woman of color
- Are currently enrolled in high school in either 10th or 11th grade
- Have at least a 2.75 G.P.A.
- Are interested in higher education
- Demonstrate a willingness to make First Step a priority
- Complete the 2014 First Step application
